How can materials, life-cycle thinking and innovative solutions contribute to a more sustainable and decarbonised built environment? These questions were at the centre of the 12th edition of the Positive Energy Building (PEB) course, where the SIRCULAR project was presented as part of a dedicated session on building materials.
The 12th edition of the Course on Positive Energy Buildings (PEB) brought together professionals and experts working across building design, construction, renovation and management to explore some of the key challenges and opportunities related to the decarbonisation of the building stock.
Organised by the Catalan Institute of Energy (ICAEN), with the collaboration of the Energy Research Institute of Catalonia (IREC), Leitat Technological Center, Eurecat, the International Center for Numerical Methods in Engineering (CIMNE) and the Efficient Energy Cluster of Catalonia (CEEC), the course addressed topics ranging from European building policy to materials, digitalisation and artificial intelligence.
The third session of the course focused on materials and their role in emissions across the building life cycle. The programme presented new solutions and innovative approaches to sustainability in the construction sector.
SIRCULAR was featured in a dedicated presentation by Marta Arrufí from the Housing Agency of Catalonia. Alongside SIRCULAR, the session included insights into building life-cycle emissions and a presentation of the EASI ZERo project, before concluding with an open debate.
The session provided a valuable opportunity to bring SIRCULAR into the wider discussion on materials, innovation and sustainability in the building sector.
