Coordinating a Horizon Europe project like SIRCULAR is both a challenging and rewarding endeavour. As the project coordinator, our role extends beyond administrative oversight, we act as both technical and administrative coordinators, ensuring smooth execution across all work packages while actively contributing to key technical developments.
A key part of our role is serving as the primary link between the consortium and the European Commission, specifically CINEA (European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency), which provides the public funding for the project. We ensure that the project aligns with the expectations and requirements set by CINEA, facilitating clear communication, reporting progress, and addressing any challenges that may arise.
From an administrative perspective, we facilitate collaboration among the 20+ partners, ensuring that project milestones are met, deliverables are submitted on time, and financial and legal requirements are properly managed. Effective coordination is essential to maintain alignment with the project’s objectives, manage risks, and foster synergies between different teams.
On the technical side, we are actively involved in the development of the SIRCULAR platform, a digital ecosystem designed to support decision-making in circular building renovation. Additionally, we are leading the development of an innovative tool for assessing the circularity of buildings, providing a structured methodology to evaluate sustainability performance and promote the adoption of circular construction practices.
This dual role, bridging both administrative and technical responsibilities, allows us to ensure that SIRCULAR remains on track, delivering high-impact results that contribute to the decarbonization and circular transformation of the built environment. Through this work, we aim to provide industry professionals, policymakers, and communities with practical tools and methodologies to accelerate the transition toward a more sustainable future.
