The Centre for Research and Technology Hellas was founded in March 2000, and it is a legal entity governed by private law with non-profit status, supervised by the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation (GSRI) of the Greek Ministry of Development. CERTH suggests one of the most important Research Centers in Greece promoting of innovative basic, applied and technological research to provide solutions to society’s modern challenges. It consists of five institutes, from which the Chemical Process & Energy Resources Institute – CPERI and Information Technologies Institute – ITI are involved in the SIRCULAR project.

Role: sustainability, circularity, BIMtoBE

CERTH will contribute to the SIRCULAR project through its in-house innovative VERIFY platform. VERIFY is an online platform which performs dynamic environmental and economic life cycle assessments for single buildings and portfolios of buildings, including their key passive and active energy systems. It includes an Investment Planning Toolkit able to calculate financial metrics of energy upgrade projects, such as Net present value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Investment Payback Time (IPBT), Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE). A set of well-defined key performance indicators can be exported through VERIFY, indicating the expected gains and losses during the examined building(s)’ entire life cycle. The Investment Planning Toolkit will be improved to undertake investment risk and sensitivity evaluations relying more on actual and historical data and alternative solution prices. During SIRCULAR project, the examined input BIM files will be used for monitoring purposes exploiting VERIFY capabilities.
