The National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) is a university located in Athens, Greece. As a technical university, NTUA has two main objectives, education and research. For the first objective, NTUA has eight different engineering schools and each one of them provides undergraduate and master courses at the highest level. For the second objective, several research programs are carried out either with the university’s own resources or funded by public bodies or the European Union. The NTUA actively participates in various programs co-funded by the EU in sectors such as engineering, energy, and sustainability.
Role: Design, simulations, renovation
NTUA is responsible for the development of the comfort evaluation tool. NTUA will conduct detailed dynamic simulations for different types of buildings and select the main key aspects that lead to thermal discomfort. In addition, NTUA will be responsible for the development of a system that will be flexible enough to use sustainable and innovative materials available in the local market. Also, NTUA will conduct preliminary design studies on timber reuse and innovative prefabricated circular renovation elements. In general, NTUA will participate in the design process of various tools and systems throughout the process of the project, as well as carry out multiple simulations for the evaluation and optimization of the SIRCULAR tools and system.
